About this directory
NGOs Eastern Africa is the printed and electronic directory of NGO contacts, profiles and business adverts covering Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is published by New Dawn Media Services, which was registered as a partnership in 2005, and it appears every year in both hard copy and electronic format with search options.
Readers use it to find organisations by country, sector and location. NGOs use it to be found by donors, corporate CSR teams and government offices. Businesses use it to reach the sector with products, services and sponsorship. Donors and foundations use it to shortlist implementing partners.

What is the NGOs Eastern Africa Directory?
It is a printed and electronic directory of NGO contacts, organisation profiles and business adverts covering Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, published by New Dawn Media Services since 2005.
Which countries does the directory cover?
Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Each country has its own section, and entries record the districts, counties, provinces or states in which an organisation operates.
How do I get a copy of the directory?
Contact us by phone, email or through the contact form with the country sections you need. The directory is available in printed book form and as a searchable electronic edition, and we can advise which format suits your use.
Is the directory available in electronic format?
Yes. Every edition is published electronically with search options so you can filter by organisation name, sector or location. The electronic edition can also be updated between print runs when organisations change their details.
How do I get my NGO listed in the directory?
Complete the add your NGO form with your organisation details. Our team will confirm the information with you, agree the listing size you want and publish your entry in the next printed and electronic edition.
How much does it cost to be listed?
Listing sizes range from a free basic community entry to quarter, half and full page profiles, with current prices in Kenya shillings and US dollars shown on the pricing page. A custom package is available for organisations needing multiple placements.
How are the organisations in the directory verified?
Our editorial team contacts each organisation to confirm its name, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, districts of operation and programme areas, and visits organisations where practical. Verified details are what distinguish the directory from an unchecked online list.
How often is the directory published?
The directory is published annually, with listings reconfirmed before each edition goes to print. The electronic edition is refreshed during the year as organisations report changes to their contact details or programmes.
Can a business advertise in the directory?
Yes. Businesses and development organisations can take advert placements from a quarter page to a full page, sponsor a country or sector section, or sponsor NGO training workshops. See our directory advertising service for details.

How do I find an NGO to volunteer with in Eastern Africa?
Use the country sections of the directory to identify organisations working in the field you are interested in, then approach them directly using the email address and telephone number in their entry. Our volunteer matching service can also connect you with an organisation that has a defined need for your skills.
How do I find NGOs working in my county, district or province?
Every listing records the locations where an organisation operates, so you can narrow the directory by area. Start from the country page for your location and then filter by sector or district.
How do I find a partner for a CSR programme in Kenya or elsewhere in the region?
Decide the sector, the districts and the outcome you want, then use our partnership facilitation service. We shortlist verified organisations already delivering in that area and introduce you directly.
How do I choose an NGO to donate to or support?
Look for a clear statement of what the organisation does, the locations it serves, a named contact and evidence of past results. Directory entries are structured to show those details, and listings that include registration numbers and partner organisations are the easiest to verify.
Can the directory be used for donor research or due diligence?
It is widely used for both. Donors and foundations use it to identify organisations working in a specific sector or district, and companies use it when assessing potential community investment partners. It is a starting point, and formal due diligence still requires documents from the organisation itself.
Do you publish NGO jobs, tenders or volunteer opportunities?
We publish organisation profiles, not individual vacancies. Many organisations advertise roles through their own channels, and the directory gives you the contact details you need to ask them directly about current openings and consultancies.
Do you help organisations with fundraising and proposals?
Yes. Our fundraising and grant readiness service covers donor research, case for support development, proposal and budget preparation, and closing the documentation gaps that cause otherwise strong applications to be rejected.
How do I update or correct my existing listing?
Contact us with the amendments. Changes to contact details, leadership, districts of operation or programme areas are reflected in the electronic edition promptly and in the next printed edition.
Do you work with organisations outside the eight countries covered?
Our published directory covers Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan and the DR Congo. Organisations working elsewhere in Africa can still contact us about training, partnership facilitation and profile writing services.
